Angeles City









           The City of Angeles or Lungsud ning Angeles in Kapampangan is located in the province of Pampanga. Angeles City lies on the western part and 16 kilometer away from the provincial capital of Pampanga which is found in the Central Plain of Luzon. It has a total land area of 6,432.82 hectares. The place is bounded on the north and northeast by the towns of Mabalacat and Magalang respectively. Way down south is San Fernando and on the west are Porac and Floridablanca. Angeles City is a highly-urbanized place and has lots of tourist spots to go and have a tour with.  It is a great place for relaxation, leisure, and to ensure the starved of everyone’s appetite due to the mouth-watering foods they offer and serve.
        Angeles City was previously known as the barrio of San Fernando and afterwards known as “Culiat” because of its jungle-like place full of Culiat vines. Don Angel Pantaleon de Miranda led the Kapampangans in filing a petition for the segregation of the Kuliat from San Fernando. Reviewing the ancient times of Angeles, it marked many trials and troubles especially when it was invaded and controlled by the Spaniards. When it was authorized by the Spaniards in 1829, they had decided to turn the town into a municipality and named it as El Pueblo de Los Angeles (the town of angels) in respect of its patron, “Los Santos Angeles Custodios” (The Holy Guardian Angeles). In January 2, 1964, Angeles was officially declared a city. Angeles City has a total number of 33 barangays today.
Angeles City went through a lot of complexities before it marked Pampanga’s lifestyle. The eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991 devastated Angeles City leaving its everyday living and economy status badly affected.
From the hardships and stumble of life as years went by during the colonization of the Spaniards, Americans, Japanese and other invaders in the Philippines and the eruption of the Mt. Pinatubo, the Kapampangans in Angeles City rose up from struggles and lots of challenges to come up and establish a city that is highly-urbanized and developed. The Angeles City has improved and continued to progress causing it to become the most successful city in Region III. It is the Angeles City or otherwise known as the Entertainment Capital in Luzon. Angeles City also offers business opportunities to deal with.
Angeles City was entitled as Luzon’s Entertainment Capital because of the on-going nightlife around the city. It has been described as asleep during the day eventhough there are still a lot of shopping spots and great places to travel and said to be awake at night. Angeles City is a place to relax and be entertained. Aside from partying all night, Angles City has other places to go like the historical sites of the city. The historic sites include the Old Pamintuan Mansion which was the seat of President Emilio Aguinaldo of the first republic. Other historical sites are the Bale Herencia and the Old Post Office as well. It is also bounded with places where you can relax like resorts, golf fields, trekking sites, hotels, parks, casinos and others. Angeles City offers both deluxe hotels and decent but not so sophisticated inns.
There are also a lot of places to dine and eat in Angeles City. The title of being the Culinary Capital of Pampanga is because of its authentic foods and the unique style of cooking of the Kapampangans. The city can offer you exotic, native and fine dining.
